Young, Owner Email  Phil Young, owner and operator, has been involved with Young’s Boat Yard since the time he could hold a paint brush in his hand. His father, Harry Young, started the business in 1948 with the idea of having a place to work on his own boat as well as providing a place for others to keep and care for a boat. Phil graduated from the University of Maryland in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business management and continued with Young’s Boat Yard as owner and operator, incorporating the business in 2005. He is involved in every aspect of Young’s Boat Yard from travelift operator, sales, bookkeeping, maintenance, boat repairs, and boat restoration. When Phil isn’t working in the yard, he is usually “messing about in boats” himself —restoring his own boat, fishing, crabbing, racing and sailing with family and friends.
